Hundreds people still without power in West Covina

Thousands of residents, mostly in southern West Covina, lost power Thursday morning when equipment failed, a spokeswoman said.

Just before 10:30 a.m. Thursday, 5,027 customers lost power thanks to "underground equipment failure," said Lois Pitter Bruce, a spokeswoman with Southern California Edison.

By 1:30 p.m. today, 412 customers - in the area around the intersection of Amar Road and Lark Ellen Avenue - remained without power as crews worked on the problem.

Power is expected to be fully restored by 9 p.m., she said.Edison is incompetent. They scheduled a service in West Covina awhile back and it took almost twice as long as estimated. Then the power was out for almost an entire day due to their equipment failing, now this. Took bad they aren't forced to compete for customers. Well you pay top dollar for your electricity. What do you really expect.
Just say you need electricity for lifesaving medical equipment and sue Edison for millions.
Electric company should NEVER not provide electricity. They need to have back up generators otherwise.there was 2 outages in WC.
THe 1st one above... the 2nd one occured around 2pm yesterday.
I was at work and found out when my webcam(PC) went out. I use it just for this purpose.
WHen I leave my pets indoor with AC, I monitor the inside outside temps to make sure the AC doesnt fail....
WHen I lost the webcam/PC- I contacted a neighbor who confirmed the outage. I came home.
By the time I arrived- the inside of the house was at 90 degrees.
Indoor temps were 88 degrees at midnight.
Finally power was restored at 4am.
I had to buy ice to keep some items from spoiling. The webcam is a pretty neat tool.
I can see who ever comes on the property- I can see when packages are delivered, I can see when people come knocking on the door.
Quite easy to use- I already have all I need, internet access, sony video cam, PC- Id be dumb not to use the technology I already have. All you have to do is set the webcam image in a small window in a corner of your screen.
Im always behind a PC screen- its a no brainer. People, get real...you obviously have no real knowledge of mechanical equipment. Things break, it's the way life goes...so sad that you are without power for a few hours. If having power is critical to you staying alive, please install an emergency generator at your home. People expect to be accomodated in every which way possible, it's rediculous. Take the pacifier from your mouths and be proactive.
